Newcastle United have announced that they have sold out of season tickets in the Family Area at St James’s Park.
Fans have flocked to the box office over the last 48 hours to snap up tickets in the 8,200-capacity section.
With seats used by season ticket holders last season currently reserved for renewal until June 30, new season ticket holders have snapped up remaining spares.
Should any of last season’s season ticket holders in the Family Area choose not to renew by the end of the month, those seats will become available on general sale from July 1.
While the South East corner and Gallowgate have also seen strong sales, availability remains in most areas of the stadium.
Despite relegation to the Championship, sales for the 2016/17 season have spiked following news that Rafa Benítez will remain as manager of the Magpies, as well as the club lowering all season ticket prices by ten per cent.
Stephen Tickle, box office manager at Newcastle United, said: “It’s been several years since we’ve seen sales at the high level we had yesterday. Our phone lines and website are running at capacity and the box office has been working overtime to service demand.
“On behalf of our box office team, I’d like to thank supporters for their patience. We’ll continue to work hard as hard as we can to make the process as quick and convenient as possible.”
