Newcastle United set sights on Dutch forward - and have 'significant financial resources' to complete a deal

Newcastle United have set their sights on PSV Eindhoven forward Cody Gakpo, according to reports in France.

The Magpies’ reported interest in the 20-year-old is highlighted by Foot Mercato when discussing Lyon’s interest.

It is claimed the Ligue 1 club are facing competition from United and PSV are open to selling for £8.5million.

Lyon have held initial talks over the Dutchman but claim competition is emerging from Newcastle.

The report adds Steve Bruce’s side have ‘significant financial resources’ to complete a deal.
