Roy Hodgson named his latest England squad today – and Jonjo Shelvey and Andros Townsend were left disappointed.

The Newcastle United pair were not in Hodgson's squad for the friendlies against Germany and Holland during the forthcoming international break.

January signings Shelvey and Townsend hope to make England's squad for Euro 2016, having both featured in the qualification campaign.

However, Rolando Aarons has been called up by England's Under-21s for the first time.

The trio are preparing for Sunday's Tyne-Wear derby.

And goalkeeper Rob Elliot has been speaking about the arrival of manager Rafa Benitez at Newcastle.

Writer Miles Starforth this week caught up with former United defender Marcelino after the club's defeat at Leicester City on Monday night.

The former Spain international has given his thoughts on Benitez's appointment – and has also reflected on his career at St James's Park.

Marcelino has also spoken about the reaction in Spain to the move.
