Dwight Gayle has been rewarded for his 21-goal second tier return with a place on the shortlist for Championship player of the year.
The Newcastle United frontman will go head to head with Leeds United's top-scorer Chris Wood and Brighton's Anthony Knockaert for the gong, sponsored by Sky Bet.
The annual EFL awards will take place on Sunday, April 9, in London, around 24 hours after United's trip to Sheffield Wednesday.
Gayle, a £10million arrival from Crystal Palace in the summer, has been a revelation since signing on the dotted line for United.
His goalscoring form up until the turn of the year saw him pull away at the top of the goalscoring charts, but a hamstring problem has curtailed his progress, somewhat in recent months.
In that time Whites' man Wood has edged ahead of Gayle, who has been able to add just one goal to his tally since January 14, a late winner at promotion rivals Huddersfield Town.
On the awards itself, EFL chief executive Shaun Harvey said: "It's been an exciting and action-packed 12 months for the EFL both on and off the pitch. There have been some incredible individual and team performances across the three divisions, entertaining the millions of fans who follow the EFL week in, week out.
"The EFL Awards are a fantastic way to recognise the achievements of clubs, players, backroom staff and fans and I would like to personally congratulate everyone who has been nominated and wish them all the best on the night itself."
