With the Magpies leading 1-0 courtesy of Miguel Almiron's goal, Muto seemed to suffer a knock to his hip on 52 minutes and was replaced by Ki Sung-yeung.

Muto was only restored to the side in midweek, when he came in from the cold to lead the line with Joelinton ahead of Dwight Gayle.

Steve Bruce was without 11 players for the tie.
