Newcastle United 'in talks' over £31m striker swoop
Newcastle United have been credited with a strong interest in £31million-rated Gent striker Jonathan David.
The striker was in impressive form before football was suspended, scoring 18 goals in 27 league games.
Newcastle continue to be linked with a host of players as fans eagerly await updates on the takeover from the Premier League.
TodoFichajes report the 20-year-old striker is also wanted by Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool this summer.
Financier Amanda Staveley, backed by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund and the billionaire property investors David and Simon Reuben, agreed a £300million deal for the club and lodged it with the Premier League last month.
Staveley and her backers are still waiting on approval amid objections over piracy and Saudi Arabia’s human rights record.
The Premier League has been suspended since mid-March but it is set to return from June 17, officials announced last week.
