Newcastle United transfer news: Arsenal emerge as favourites to land Toon star, Rangers make contact over PL winger raid

Newcastle United stunned Leicester City on Friday night with a stunning 4-2 win at the King POwer Stadium.

Goals from Joe Willock, Allan Saint-Maximin, and a brace from Callum Wilson were enough to give the Magpies a commanding lead, and a late fightback from the hosts wasn’t enough to prevent Steve Bruce’s men from securing an impressive three points.

The result allowed Newcastle to climb up to 14th in the table with three games remaining.

Speaking after the game Foxes boss Brendan Rodgers was quick to pinpoint where his side went wrong.

He said: “It’s an easy game to analyse.

“We just made poor errors. And give credit to Newcastle, because they’ve got strong players in the front areas of the pitch, and if you make mistakes, they will punish you.”

"It’s difficult to play in a back five or a back four without Jonny Evans.

“The first goal was poor from a concentration perspective. Third goal is a mistake. The fourth goal is too easy for Wilson to get in. It’s not really about systems.

“I give credit to the players, they kept going. Some teams will sink at 4-0 down, but they kept running and kept fighting. We could have four or five ourselves, but if you defend like that, you are going to struggle to win games.”

Defeat against the Toon Army on Friday night has put a considerable dent in Leicester’s hope of qualifying for the Champions League next season.
