The 19-year-old midfielder sees his current contract come to an end in the summer, after what has proved to be his breakthrough campaign.

Two goals against Manchester United, the first on Premier League debut, has catapulted the Geordie on to a national platform, with an England under-20 call soon following.

And his performances have also piqued interest on the continent with the official Match of the Day magazine – edited by fellow Geordie journalist Matt Ketchell – claiming Inter Milan and AC Milan are both keeping an eye on the player, with view to a move.
