Newcastle United transfer news: Magpies linked with shock Ivan Toney deal as Crystal Palace open talks with Steve Bruce target

Imagine selling a player for £650,000 and being told you can buy him back for £25million?

Well, that could be the case at Newcastle United, if reports from The Sun are proven to be true.

According to the national publication, the Magpies are one of three Premier League clubs monitoring in-form Brentford striker Ivan Toney.

Leicester City are believed to be the most interested but Newcastle and West Ham are also keeping tabs on his remarkable progress.

After leaving St James’s Park for Peterborough United in 2018, Toney scored goals for fun at League One level before being snapped up by the Bees for a sizeable undisclosed fee last summer.

Toney has taken to the Championship like a duck in water, netting a remarkable 24 goals so far. His current form suggests a move back to the Premier League is just around the corner.

But will that be with Newcastle? Well, never say never but given he was sold for such a small fee, could the Magpies really stomach bringing him back for that amount of money?

Some serious pride would need to be swallowed, that’s for sure.

Meanwhile, reported Newcastle target Radu Dragusin has held initial talks with Crystal Palace over a move to South London this summer.

A number of Italian outlets have linked Steve Bruce to the 19-year-old, who is out-of-contract in June.
