Newcastle United transfer news: Toon target will demand summer exit, Fresh twist in £6m winger saga

Newcastle United continued their impressive recent run of form with a stunning 4-2 win over high-flying Leicester City on Friday night.

The Magpies had Joe Willock, Allan Saint-Maxmimin, and Callum Wilson (twice) to thank for the goals that ultimately saw them record a commanding win at the King Power Stadium.

The result, coupled with Fulham’s defeat to Burnley on Monday, was enough to ensure that Steve Bruce’s men are guaranteed Premier League football next season, and the only question on Tyneside now is whether or not the Toon Army can finish higher than their current 15th-placed standing.

Whether or not survival will be enough to ensure Bruce is still in the dugout next term remains to be seen, but the 60-year-old is seemingly keen to stay on after previously coming close to resigning.

Speaking to talkSPORT, when asked if he would still be at Newcastle beyond this summer, he said: “That’s for others to decide.

"There are big discussions to be had. Most clubs review the season and what’s happened.

"I’m a football person and I’m still too early to retire yet but all those conversations will happen over the next couple of weeks.

“I thought the easy thing would be to say I am not enjoying this anymore and I will walk away.

"That has never been me. I wanted to batten down the hatches and make sure Newcastle are safe this season.

"The most important for me is the club and I have been working tirelessly and embroiled in keeping the club in the division."
