Newcastle United transfer news: Toon weigh up summer move for World Cup winner, Bid WILL be made

Newcastle United saw their recent purple patch come to a grinding halt against Arsenal on Sunday.

The Magpies had gone four matches unbeaten prior to their visit from the Gunners over the weekend, but never really managed to get out of first gear, and were comfortably beaten 2-0 as a result.

Next up for the Toon Army is a clash against Leicester City on Friday night that could prove to be equally as challenging.

The Foxes are flying high in the Premier League, and are unbeaten in their last three matches.

One player who will be eager to get involved in that match is teenage striker Elliot Anderson.

The youngster came off the bench against Arsenal back in January to make his senior debut, but has yet to feature again since.

When asked whether he could be given a nod between now and the end of the campaign, however, Steve Bruce said: “There’s a chance.

"We understand that he’s making big strides. He’s only 18, the boy, but he’s in and around us.

“Yeah, he might get a chance before the end of the season. I’ll look at it, and what we’ve got.

"We’ve got our big players fit at the top of the pitch, of course, in Allan, Callum and Joelinton. He’s got fierce competition.”

Anderson has scored five times in nine Premier League 2 appearances for the U23s this season.
