Newcastle United transfer news: Top target wants Toon move, Magpies launch scouting mission ahead of summer raid

Newcastle United go into this weekend’s clash against Arsenal on a surprisingly good run of form.

The Magpies are unbeaten in four in the Premier League, and took a point from Liverpool in their last outing, thanks to a late strike from Joe Willock.

By contrast, the Gunners have won just one of their last five in the top flight, and are in serious danger of dropping out of the top half with the end of the season looming large.

Steve Bruce’s men will, therefore, be hoping that the momentum is with them in this one, and Sean Longstaff has revealed that their is a newfound air of positivity doing the rounds on Tyneside.

Speaking to NUFC TV recently, he said: "If we finish the season well, there are teams above us that we can catch. That’s the way we’re looking now – up the table and not looking at what the teams below us are doing.

"It’s been a lot more positive around the training ground over the last few weeks.

"It’s been a good place to come, the laughing and joking is back – that wasn’t there for a few months. It’s difficult but understandable when you’re not winning.

"Hopefully we are through that little rough patch now and things are looking a bit more positive.

"All we can do is keep listening to what the staff are putting in place and try and pick up results to get us higher up the table.”
