Newcastle United trio Callum Wilson, Kieran Trippier and Nick Pope handed England squad numbers
England have revealed their squad numbers for the World Cup in Qatar.
Gareth Southgate and his players are set to fly out to the tournament later today after meeting yesterday at St George’s Park.
And the Football Association have revealed the numbers allocated to Southgate’s players, including Newcastle United trio Kieran Trippier, Nick Pope and Callum Wilson, who was sidelined by illness last week.
Southgate has given the numbers one to 12 to the same players who wore them at Euro 2020, where they lost on penalties to Italy in the final at Wembley.
Right-back Trippier has the No.12 jersey, while Nick Pope, challenging Everton’s Jordan Pickford for a place in goal, has the No.13 shirt. Striker Wilson – who recovered from a hamstring injury in time to win his first call-up in more than two years – has the No.24 shirt. Miguel Almiron – who has been a revelation so far this season – wears that number at Newcastle.
