Newcastle United are assessing Rob Elliot’s injury ahead of an appeal to the Premier League over the club’s goalkeeping crisis.
Elliot aggravated a thigh problem in Saturday’s goalless draw against Stoke.
And 18-year-old Freddie Woodman could make his senior United debut at Bournemouth on Saturday.
With Tim Krul and Karl Darlow also sidelined, the club is set to ask the Premier League for permission to sign a goalkeeper on an emergency loan.
Manchester United’s Victor Valdes is one option for Newcastle.
But Elliot’s injury will first be fully assessed by the club.
