Steve McClaren is not expecting a busy end to the transfer window – and plans to be watching the drama unfold from the comfort of his sofa.
And the Newcastle boss is adamant the Magpies have no intention of selling any of their star players before Tuesday’s deadline.
McClaren says there is no need to sell, despite ongoing speculation surrounding the likes of Papiss Cisse and Moussa Sissoko.
When quizzed over whether he expected to lose anyone, McClaren said: “I hope not – we have no intention of [losing anyone].
“There’s a great determination from the club, to reiterate from two weeks ago, that we don’t need to sell, we don’t have to sell, we don’t want to sell.
“We don’t want to loose any of our best players.
“We want to bring player in – we have done that with [Florian] Thauvin. At this present moment, we are happy.”
Newcastle have signed five players this summer and McClaren was not expecting to be busy on deadline day.
He added: “I hope I will be sat on my sofa watching the frantic goings-on on the last day of the transfer window.
“I’ll certainly miss Harry [Redknapp] on Tuesday!
“You can never say never, but as quiet as we are not planning anything, we haven’t got anything up our sleeve.
“We are happy with what we have got and hopefully, we’ll see the window through nice and quietly.”
