FORMER Swansea City manager Michael Laudrup has been backed into 4/1 with one bookmaker for the Newcastle United head coach job.
The former Lazio, Juventus, Barcelona, Real Madrid and Ajax midfielder is currently in charge of Qatari side Lekhwiya, who he took over after leaving Swansea in 2014.
He had been 50/1 to succeed Alan Pardew at St James’s Park, but those odds dramatically changed after a flurry of bets over the weekend.
John Carver, who remains in caretaker charge, if third favourite at a best-priced 3/1, behind favourite Remi Garde (6/4) and Steve McClaren (11/5).
Laudrup, meanwhile, is fourth favourite, with Sky Bet offering odds of 4/1, and most other bookmakers pricing the Dane at 6/1.
