Papiss Cisse’s looking to make up for lost time at Newcastle United – starting at Carrow Road.

The striker returned from a three-month lay-off in the Tyne-Wear derby.

When you have the backing of the whole city, it lifts you and you take that confidence into every game.

And he is looking to take out his injury frustration on the opposition in the final eight games of the season.

Cisse is hoping to be involved for the relegation-threatened club against Norwich City tomorrow.

The 30-year-old had surgery early this year after suffering a groin injury in December, and he’s just relieved to be back fit ahead of the all-important run-in.

“It’s difficult for my mind,” said Cisse. “I need to be positive.

“I know I’ve had injuries. I need to work hard with the physios. They do a good job.

“For me, I need to be focused. It’s not easy, but it’s the only way I can go.”

Cisse has been working overtime over the past fortnight to be ready for the game against Norwich, who are three points ahead of second-bottom Newcastle.

Asked how fit he was, Cisse added: “I’m very, very good. I feel good.

“I’m here and I have a chance to train all week (during the international break).”

Cisse is looking to impress new manager Rafa Benitez.

“For me, it’s good for the team,” said Cisse. “They (Benitez and his staff) need players, and the players need him. We need to be together and try to do something.

“I need to show him something on the training ground every day.

“Maybe I get a chance to do something at Norwich.

“They have spoken to me and everyone. They need everyone and the players need him. It’s good.”
