Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth fund withdrew a £300million takeover bid for the club in late July over the Premier League’s failure to make a timely decision on its approval.

And Prince Abdullah – who took full control at Bramall Lane two years ago – has spoken about the Amanda Staveley-led bid in an interview with talkSPORT.

“I don't work with the (Saudi) Government anymore – I haven't worked with them for two-and-a-half years,” said Prince Abdullah. "From what I’ve heard, I think the odds are it won't happen. I think there may be a little chance, but I’m not involved, so I’m only speculating.

"We have had a successful experience with Sheffield United, so I’m hoping it will open the door for many more investors in our area to come and invest in England."
