The former Newcastle United manager left Chinese club Dalian Pro in Janaury – and is considering his options at his Merseyside home.

Benitez – who has “unfinished business” at St James’s Park following his controversial departure in the summer of 2019 – doesn’t believe his next job will be in his native Spain. Instead, the 61-year-old feels that he will return to work in England or Italy, having had success in both countries.

“In Spain, at the moment, it’s not possible to think about carrying out a project and trying to win something,” Benitez told Sky Italia. “In Italy and England, on the other hand, it can be done.
