Rafa Benitez has reacted to Mike Ashley's extraordinary interview.
Newcastle United's owner revealed that he wouldn't put any more money into the club in an interview aired by Sky Sports last weekend.
The billionaire also insisted that he was prepared to sell the club to the right buyer.
Benitez was promised "every last penny" generated by Newcastle through promotion and player sales in May.
However, United have missed out on a number of targets in this summer's transfer market.
And Benitez went public with his frustration at the situation earlier this summer.
Asked for his thoughts on Mike Ashley's interview, Benitez said: "I'm concentrating on improving the team. It didn’t change anything of what I think.
"The reality is that we're ready to play the second game in the league and try to prepare as well as we can."
Pressed on Ashley's claim's about finances, Benitez added: "He knows what he told me and what I was thinking.
"We know where we are and what we want. My focus is to win on Sunday."
Meanwhile, United take on Huddersfield Town at the John Smith's Stadium on Sunday.
Newcastle were beaten 2-0 at St James's Park by Tottenham Hotspur in their opening Premier League fixture last weekend.
Play-off winners Huddersfield beat Crystal Palace 3-0 at Selhurst Park in their first game.
And manager David Wagner is relishing the club's first home game in the division.
"I'm very excited about Sunday's game," said Wagner. "I'm sure it will be an extraordinary atmosphere against Newcastle.
"We will have to get the little details right against Newcastle. We have to be totally focused. It's important for us to get points on the board and to put in a good performance."
