Newcastle United's Adam Armstrong is wanted by Rangers.
The Scottish Premier League club want to take the 19-year-old on loan, according to The Sun.
Armstrong came off the bench in Friday night's Championship opener against Fulham.
But United manager Rafa Benitez could yet loan out the England Under-19 international, who scored 19 goals on loan at League One Coventry City last season.
Rangers are sweating on the fitness of South Shields-born Martyn Waghorn, who has a hamstring injury.
And manager Mark Warburton wants to sign another striker before the transfer window closes.
Benitez has a good relationship with Rangers head of recruitment Frank McParland from their time together at Liverpool.
Armstrong, keen to stay at Newcastle and help the club in the Championship, is reluctant to return to League One in the belief that he is ready to "step up" this season.
Presumably, United would be unwilling to loan Armstrong to another Championship club.
And if he is to have another loan, a spell in the Scottish Premiership could prove appealing to both Newcastle and Armstrong.
