REMI Garde is at the Etihad Stadium to watching Newcastle United – for French TV.
Garde was one of the contenders to succeed Alan Pardew at St James’s Park after he left the club at the turn of the year.
The club spoke to the former Olympique Lyonnais manager last month, but he reportedly wasn’t prepared to break a year-long sabbatical from the game.
Garde, commentating on this evening’s Premier League game against Manchester City, is likely to return to football in the summer, when Newcastle will look to appoint a permanent successor to Pardew.
John Carver was appointed head coach until the end of the season.
