NEWCASTLE United have shortlisted Remi Garde for the vacant head coach post at St James’s Park, according to a report in France.
RMC claim that the club is preparing to make an approach to the 48-year-old, who is the new bookmakers’ favourite to succeed Alan Pardew at St James’s Park.
The former Arsenal defender left Olympique Lyonnais for “personal reasons” last summer after a successful three-year spell at the club.
Newcastle are looking to appoint a head coach as successor to departed manager Pardew, who has joined Crystal Palace.
Meanwhile, Middlesbrough manager Aitor Karanka has distanced himself from speculation linking him with the job.
Karanka said he was “120 per cent” committed to the Championship club.
