BRUNO Labbadia has emerged as one of the top two candidates for the Newcastle United job, according to a report in his native Germany.
The former Bayer Leverkusen, Hamburg and Stuttgart manager has been strongly linked with the head coach job at St James’s Park over the last few days.
Newcastle were quick to deny the reports, but journalists in Germany continue to insist that Labaddia is high on the shortlist of replacements for Alan Pardew.
Sven Töllner, a reporter for Sky Sport News Germany, tweeted: “Bruno Labbadia (according to #ssnhd sources) is one of the two top candidates for the coaching job at NUFC.”
Meanwhile, respected German journalist Raphael Honigstein added: “Labbadia? Interesting. Pretty good coach, tactically, but has never quite managed to get his players on board long enough...”
