NEWCASTLE United have lost ANOTHER player to a season-ending injury.
Goalkeeper Rob Elliot is out for the rest of the campaign after suffering a thigh problem.
And teenager Freddie Woodman will be back-up to experienced No1 Tim Krul for the final five games of the season.
Woodman will be on the bench for tomorrow’s crucial Premier League home game against Swansea City.
Elliot spent two months on the sidelines earlier this season after suffering a thigh tear while deputising for Krul.
That injury forced United to turn to 21-year-old Jak Alnwick, who is himself out for the rest of the campaign after suffering a wrist injury while on loan at Bradford City.
Alnwick will leave Newcastle at the end of the season when his contract expires.
Head coach Carver will turn to 18-year-old Woodman, son of goalkeeping coach Andy, if anything happens to Krul in the club’s five remaining games.
Woodman – who plays for England’s Under-19s – is highly-rated by club and country.
