Newcastle United’s summer business has been praised as swift and necessary by teenage star Rolando Aarons.
Ahead of today’s lunchtime kick-off at home to Arsenal, Aarons has heaped praise on the club’s recruitment during the transfer window ahead of it closing on Tuesday teatime.
There could yet be further movement too, with Newcastle still in the market for defensive cover.
“The signings have all been good,” Aarons told the Gazette.
“They have all been additions that the squad probably needed and you can see from the first three games that we have improved. They are all looking like really good buys.”
Aarons, set to be back on the bench against Arsene Wenger’s side, added: “Arsenal is a tough game, every game is going to be at this level. They are one of the best teams in the Premier League but we will give it our best shot.”
Newcastle go into the 12.45pm kick-off on the back of the convincing win over League Two Northampton Town in the Capital One Cup.
And Aarons admitted the side took a lot of satisfaction from the victory, even if it was against a side three divisions below.
“When you are expected to win, like we were against Northampton, sometimes it is harder,” said Aarons.
“So we were really pleased to beat Northampton, it was a good win and we are targeting a good cup run this year.
“We went out to [Tottenham] last year, so we are looking to do better this season and we will try our best in every competition.
“If we got to the final then that would obviously be great!”
