JOHN Carver has confirmed that Rolando Aarons won’t play in Sunday’s Wear-Tyne derby – but Mehdi Abeid has returned to the Newcastle squad.
Aarons was back in training this week after five months out with hamstring problems, but the game has come too soon for him, as the Gazette exclusively revealed yesterday.
But Abeid is set to feature after missing the last two games, while international players Moussa Sissoko, Tim Krul and Daryl Janmaat have all returned to the club unscathed after their games with France and Holland.

“All of our international players have come back in one piece,” said Carver.
“Mehdi Abeid will be in the squad. It’s too early for Rolando Aarons.”
Carver is confident Newcastle can halt a run of four successive defeats against Sunderland when they travel to the Stadium of Light on Sunday.
And he says the Geordies in his coaching team – including himself – will make sure everyone knows the importance of the fixture.
“The players know what the derby means,” he added. “With the staff – most are local – they what it’s like and what to expect.
“Any team of mine playing against a Sunderland side will never lack for effort or enthusiasm. My staff and I will be driving them on.”
