The Newcastle United winger netted the Scots’ equaliser during a 2-2 draw in Israel on Sunday before heading home a fourth at Hampden Park last night.

The 27-year-old has been deployed by Steve Bruce as a split striker in recent weeks but impressed for Steve Clarke’s side in his natural wide position.

He’ll now return to Tyneside as the Magpies prepare to host Tottenham on Sunday afternoon at St James’s Park.

Meanwhile, Jamal Lewis played a full 90 minutes for Northern Ireland during their goalless draw against Bulgaria.

There were concerns that the former Norwich full-back was struggling with a groin problem.

Lewis missed Ian Barraclough men’s opening qualifier in Italy but returned a few days later – coming off the bench in a friendly with the USA.

Emil Krafth also played a full game for Sweden as earned a 1-0 friendly win against Estonia.
