West Bromwich Albion are willing to sell striker Saido Berahino for £20million – but not to Newcastle United, according to reports today.
The Magpies have made Berahino their No 1 strike target as they look to add to their attacking firepower before the transfer window closes.
But reports from the Midlands today claim that West Brom chairman Jeremy Peace isn’t prepared to sell the player to Newcastle, because he fears Berahino’s goals dragging the Baggies into a relegation scrap.
West Brom are 14th, seven points above Newcastle, who occupy the final relegation spot.
Peace is only willing to sell Berahino to a side above them in the table, and is prepared to listen to offers of £20million, with both Spurs and Chelsea linked with the England Under-21 international in recent days.
