Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl aims bitter jibe at Steve Bruce, Newcastle United tactics & Andy Carroll

And Hassenhuttl admits he was less than impressed with Steve Bruce’s tactics, Newcastle’s performance and their direct approach when Andy Carroll came on the pitch.

Speaking post-match, he said: “I saw only my team playing football today.

“Sometimes this is a pity. We made a brave away game, we must be proud. The opponent was a little bit struggling - they play long balls to Carroll who everybody knows is 10ft tall."

Carroll transformed the game when he came on for Joelinton in the 58th minute, providing his second assist in a week for Shelvey’s second-half equaliser.
