Newcastle may be on the verge of signing one striker, but another forward they’re interested in could be moving to Tottenham Hotspur.

Reports in today’s Sunday People claim that Spurs will make a £15m bid for West Brom’s England Under-21 striker Saido Berahino, 21, this week.

Newcastle are believed to have a strong interest in Berahino, as well as Charlie Austin, and could turn to either once they’ve tied up their deal for Aleksandar Mitrovic.

Elsewhere, the Wigan Evening Post claims that Rangers are close to signing two Wigan Athletic players - forward Martyn Waghorn, 29, and 23-year-old defender James Tavernier.

South Shields-born Waghorn came through the ranks at Sunderland while Tavernier is a former Newcastle youngster.
