Steve Bruce gives his view on Joelinton against Everton after he 'went missing' on Boxing Day
Joelinton had his best game for Newcastle United in four months against Everton.
That was the verdict of head coach Steve Bruce after yesterday’s 2-1 defeat to Carlo Ancelotti’s side at St James’s Park.
Joeltinon – whose only goal for the club came against Tottenham Hotspur in August – started up front alongside Andy Carroll before being switched to the right in a tactical change.
“We’ve tried to create the threat in attack,” said Bruce. “We’re still looking at different options. I thought Jo played well. I thought on Boxing Day (in the 4-1 defeat to Manchester United), he went missing, but that was arguably his best game since Spurs.
“He has given me something to think about playing in a wider area. We’ll look at it, but I thought he did okay today.
Joelinton, signed for £40million in the summer, has a calf injury ahead of the New Year’s Day game against Leicester City.
