The club is 14th in the division and five points above the relegation zone following the weekend’s goalless home draw against Burnley.

Speaking ahead of tomorrow night’s FA Cup tie against West Bromwich Albion, head coach Bruce said: “When you don’t win, then you’re always at that risk if you’re in the bottom half of the Premier League.

“A couple of them won at the weekend, and closed the gap, but with 10 games to go, we know what target we’re looking for.

“I still think the bottom half of the Premier League are all looking at it. Until you get to a certain figure, it’s all to play for. We’ve all got to get to that magical figure. In the past it’s been 36, but I don’t think that’s going to be quite enough this time. Whatever it is, we’ve got to get there.

“We’ve all got to get to that magical (points) figure.

“We understand we’ve had a difficult run, but we’ve got top 32 points with 10 games to spare.

“If someone had told me back in August that would be the case, I would have taken that. We have some big games coming up, but five of them are at home where we’ve been very good.

“Yes, everyone is looking over their shoulder, but that’s the Premier League.”
