Newcastle United head coach Steve McClaren has again refused to talk about this months transfer window.
The club's 1-0 defeat to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium underlined the need for a new striker.
McClaren's relegation-threatened side have failed to scored in their last three Premier League games, all of which have ended in defeat.
The result leaves the club 18th in the division and two points adrift of safety.
Asked about the transfer window, head coach McClaren said: "That's something that, during January, we will be discussing in private."
Laurent Koscielny claimed all three points for Arsenal with a second-half goal.
Newcastle had dominated much of the game, but Aleksandar Mitrovic and Georginio Wijnaldum couldn't convert the game's best chances.
McClaren said: "The players can't believe it. We controlled and dominated the game after the first 10 minutes.
"We asked for a performance, and they gave it. We just didn't have the finishing touch.
"One soft goal at the other end and we lost the game.
"I can't fault the performance, we just need to be more ruthless in both boxes."
