Steven Taylor will look to put his seven-month injury nightmare behind him in California.
The defender is pencilled in to make his comeback against Sacramento Republic at Bonney Field on Saturday.
Taylor – who has not featured for Newcastle in pre-season up to now – ruptured his Achilles in January.
And the 29-year-old is ready to return in the USA after completing a painstaking rehabilitation programme.
However, Taylor’s defensive colleague Curtis Good could sit out the friendly against Sacramento.
The 22-year-old made his comeback from hip surgery against Gateshead last week.
But United’s staff are being cautious with Good, who was not involved against Club Atlas in the early hours of this morning.
