JACK Rodwell says a fifth successive victory over Newcastle United next weekend would be like a “double win” for Sunderland.
Sunderland need no reminding of the importance of the fixture, with the Black Cats just a place and a point above the Premier League relegation zone.

Rodwell came on as a stoppage-time substitute in Sunderland’s dramatic 1-0 win at St James’s Park earlier this season, and says another success against the Magpies would be worth more than just the three points.
The midfielder told Sunderland’s official website: “(A win) would be massive.
“It’s like a double win really, the derby.
“The three points is the most important thing now, but if we can win that derby, it would just put a special shine on the season, with two derby victories.
“Like I said, the most important thing is staying up and getting as many points as possible, but I think all the focus now is on this game. Everyone is buzzing.”
Rodwell is in line to make his first home appearance in a Wear-Tyne derby next Sunday, and is excited about the prospect.
The former Everton and Manchester City player added: “We won the last game, at St James’s, but it’s going to be more special at the Stadium of Light for me.
“It’s my first derby at the Stadium of Light, so I’m really looking forward to it and hopefully we can have a great game.
“There’s that much pressure on it already – maybe not pressure, just a buzz.
“These are the games you want to play in as a player.
“Derby games are the first fixtures you look for when the fixtures are announced.
“I’m sure the fans will be more excited than anything, just to put in a good performance and get the win.”
