Sylvain Marveaux was handed a rare run out for Newcastle United tonight.

Marveaux – who hasn’t played a first-team game in more than two years – played 77 minutes for the Under-21s, beaten 3-1 by Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.

Peter Beardsley’s United side was captained by January signing Henri Saivet, while Jack Wilshere played for the home team.

Newcastle’s goal was inadvertently scored by Arsenal defender Krystian Bielik.
