Striker M'Baye Niang has turned down the chance to join Newcastle United from AC Milan.
According to Italian publication Gazzetta dello Sport the 22-year-old knocked back the chance to leave for Tyneside, as he prefers a switch to Torino.
The report suggests United asked about the availability of the frontman, who has been on their radar since 2013, but were told he was not willing to join Benitez in the Premier League.
Niang spent last season on loan at Watford, scoring just twice in 16 games for the Hornets.
Meanwhile, Fulham's £15million bid for Dwight Gayle remains on the table at United, with the club considering other strike options in the final few hours of window.
Lucas Perez is a player who Benitez likes a lot, but a deal to Deportivo looks all but done, with a €4m loan deal for the season mooted, with no option to but.
A loan move for Liverpool's Divock Origi has also fallen through with the striker set to sign for Wolfsburg.
Loic Remy, linked earlier in the window, is also set to pen a two-year permanent deal at Spanish side Las Palmas.
