Newcastle United have 'every chance' of beating a number of Premier League rivals to the loan capture of Tammy Abraham.
But a deal is not imminent, according to sources close to the player.
The Magpies are confident of tying up a season-long loan deal for the Chelsea youngster, who netted 26 goals on loan at Bristol City last season.
And United have spoken direct with the player, in a bid to convince him St James's Park would be the perfect next step in his career.
Although, the Gazette has learned that no deal is expected to be announced in the next 24 hours, with nothing yet signed and sealed with the 19-year-old.
Newcastle are keen to add at least one new striker to the club's ranks this summer, with Rafa Benitez potentially eyeing two new faces up top.
And Abraham, also wanted by newly promoted Brighton, as well as Leicester City, fits the bill perfectly.
The move could well pave the way for Daryl Murphy, currently away on Republic of Ireland duty, and Aleksandar Mitrovic to depart United.
