Aleksandar Mitrovic is determined to prove that Steve McClaren was WRONG to drop him.
The striker came off the bench to score Newcastle United's equaliser in last weekend's 2-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur.
Mitrovic had been left out of head coach McClaren's starting XI for the second successive week.
And the summer signing – who hopes to be recalled to the starting XI against Aston Villa at St James's Park this evening – was determined to make his mark.
Asked if he had a "point to prove" at White Hart Lane, he said: "Yes, absolutely. I hadn't played the last two games, so I was happy when I came on, but I was determined as well.
"Like every player, I want to play for 90 minutes every week, and I don't like it when that doesn't happen.
"But it is the head coach's decision and he picks the right team to win each game. I respect that.
"However, when I got my chance I wanted to show people that I can play well for this team, and that I can score goals, too. Hopefully, I did that."
