Boldon CA have appointed former Horsley Hill boss Paul Mossa as their new manager.

Mossa, who guided Horsley to second in the Durham Alliance this season, as well as winning the League Cup, takes over from Jason Jones, who stepped down earlier this month.

Boldon chairman Kevin Oliver said: “We are very pleased to welcome Paul as the club’s new manager.

“He comes with a glowing reputation as being a good motivator and tactically adept.

“When I heard that he was considering his next step, we held talks and I liked his vision for Boldon CA.

“I know Paul is keen to develop the club both on and off the pitch and has already demonstrated his commitment to this by arranging renovation of the amenities in our changing facilities.”

Mossa, who has had experience of working in the Wearside League with East Durham, oversaw the formation and development of Horsley Hill last season, putting together a squad with an average age of 21, having taken the majority of their players from Under-18s leagues.

The new CA chief intends to bring the majority of his young talented squad over to Boldon, with Mick Hutchinson coming in as first team coach and Seb Turner as player-coach.

Mossa said: “We’d like to thank Kevin and the committee for giving us the opportunity to manage a club with such a rich history as Boldon CA.

“Kevin is aware we’re looking to build something special here, albeit we’re aware success in such a tough league requires time and patience.

“However, I believe the ability of the players I’m bringing with me provides us with a good platform for that, although I’m also eager to work with the lads already at Boldon, who I’ve heard good things about.

“I intend to engage with with he local community and businesses, as with their support I’m confident we can all contribute to a bright future at Boldon Villa. We’re excited about the challenge ahead.”

Pre-season training starts Saturday, June 20, 1.30pm at Boldon Villa. All players old and new are welcome to attend.

The club is also inviting applications for the role of assistant manager. Applications can be submitted by emailing Kevin Oliver at
