Daryll Hall has become the latest player to agree a return to South Shields, with the defender accepting a deal to move from West Auckland.
Hall, who played in the FA Vase final for West Auckland at Wembley in 2014, played for Shields between 2010 and 2011, while his dad David is on the Mariners’ coaching staff for the second time.
It took a lot of persuading for me to drop down from the First Division, but I wouldn’t have come if the club wasn’t going in the right direction.Daryll Hall, South Shields
The 30-year-old said: “I’ve played for the club before, and it was a great place to be with a good fanbase. It’s a really well-supported club, and I can’t wait to get started.
“I’ve spoken to the club about the plans, and there are exciting times ahead.

As well as West Auckland, Hall has enjoyed spells with the likes of Spennymoor, Shildon and Morpeth. However, Shields is a club which has always remained in his heart.
The defender added: “I’ve got a lot of history with the club, because I used to come and watch South Shields as a kid when my dad was assistant manager. I was only about nine, but I went to every training session and watched every game, so I’ve got a lot of memories with the club. The people that are involved with the club are there from the goodness of their own heart, and they do a lot for you. The little things make a big difference.”
