South Shields have signed Mechack Kanda on loan from Gateshead – less than a week after he scored twice against them in the Durham Challenge Cup.
Kanda’s double proved to be in vain for Gateshead as they lost 3-2 at Mariners Park last Wednesday.
However, he did enough to impress Shields boss Jon King, who moved to land the 20-year-old on a 28-day loan.
The striker is in contention to make his debut for the club in tonight’s match at Darlington RA.
Shields brought Kanda in after the departures of forwards Andrew Bulford and Paul Kane to Ashington and Whitley Bay respectively.
