Hebburn Town boss preaches patience

Hebburn Town boss Scott Oliver has urged his players to ‘stay patient’ as they look to finally get the second half of their season up and running.

The Hornets are scheduled to host Thornaby tomorrow in a Northern League Division Two clash – weather permitting.

Hebburn, like most other teams, have seen their schedule badly hit by the weather over the last couple of months and haven’t played since a 3-0 defeat at Ryhope on November 28.

Oliver will have almost a full squad to choose from tomorrow, and says he will need all of his players for a busy run-in.

“Thornaby will be a tough game – they are a good team and have just signed Sonny Andrews from promotion-chasing Billingham Synthonia, so that shows the club’s ambition.

“After seven weeks with no game, it is time to start our season again.

“Chris Thompson (assistant manager) has been with us just two weeks but is very impressed with the attitude and standard of the players.

“It’s important that the players stay patient. We have a full squad bar Ally Downey, and we will need every player with 21 games still to play.”
