Hebburn Town are looking to ‘over-achieve’ again this season, according to manager Scott Oliver – and launch another promotion bid.

The Hornets just missed out on promotion from Northern League Division Two last season, eventually finishing four points off the top three in fifth.

This season, they are again set to aim for the top three, despite what Oliver calls a ‘disrupted’ pre-season.

He said: “We had a dirupted pre-season, and may need a month for our players to find fitness.

“The aim for us this season is promotion, and to over-achieve again.”

Hebburn kick-off their season tonight with a trip to Ryton and Crawcrook Albion. It will be the first Northern League game anywhere this season.

Oliver’s side will be without Chris Smith and Ross Toward, while Craig Malley will need to pass a fitness test.
