Jarrow Roofing face a tough clash against mid-table Bishop Auckland at Boldon tonight, hoping that consecutive wins can help them to climb the Northern League Division One table.
Having endured a run of poor form that had seen them go without a win since the end of November, Roofing enjoyed a 4-0 away drubbing of high-flying Newton Aycliffe on Saturday.
Despite the win, Roofing are still languishing in the bottom half of the table but a win tonight would see them jump up to 14th at the expense of the visitors.
Bishop Auckland have not lost in the weather-disrupted league since the middle of October, but should nevertheless find the trip to the Boldon CA Sports Ground a tough one following Roofing’s discovery of form on Saturday.
The Roofers may have only picked up four points from their last five league games, but they were perhaps unlucky to fall to recent defeats against Bedlington Terriers and Guisborough Town in games that could have gone either way.
Roofing and Bishops have already faced off twice this season, with both sides managing to grab one win each.
“We’ve played them twice already this season and we beat them in the FA Cup,” said Roofing boss Richie McLoughlin.
“They beat us in the league but both games were at their place. Both were tight games and the home advantage might make the difference for us.”
Having kept consecutive clean sheets for the first time this season in their last two outings, the South Tynesiders will be aiming to keep it tight at the back once more on Tuesday. But if McLoughlin’s side are to get the result that they need against Bishops, then they may have to do so without Paul Chow, who is a doubt after coming off against Newton Aycliffe.
“Chowy is a doubt after coming off yesterday on Saturday” said McLoughlin. “I haven’t spoke to him yet but we’ll find out whether he can play a part after we’ve had a chat.”
Kick off is at 7.30pm at the Boldon CA Sports Ground.
