JOHN Campbell is back available for Jarrow Roofing after his permanent move to Oxford United collapsed.
The striker, who moved to the League Two side in November on loan, was due to join Oxford permanently when the January transfer window opened.
However, after the U’s tried to renegotiate the deal and refused to pay the previously agreed fee, the move fell through, and the transfer window closed earlier this week without a resolution being found.
Campbell could now line up again for Roofing in tomorrow’s game against Bedlington Terriers at Boldon CA Sports Ground.
Roofers supremo Richie McLoughlin has seen his seventh-placed side win just two of their last eight games in Northern League Division One, and he has warned his players they are playing for the futures next season.
He said: “There are areas we are looking to improve on and we will be analysing our options in the games that remain.
“All the players now have to show with their performances on the pitch that they can take this club forward next season.
“We have a good bunch of lads here, though, who I am more than confident are up to the challenge.
“There can be no room for complacency now – we can’t start moving backwards after all the progress we have made recently.
“The goals have dried up a bit recently, and that’s something we need to sort out.
“Things don’t seem to be dropping for us in the box at the minute, but it just takes one second for our luck to turn and hopefully when that does happen, we can kick on and finish the season strongly as we begin planning for another successful campaign next season.”
On the Bedlington game, McLoughlin said: “We have beaten them already this season, when they were going well at the top of the league.
“It will be a hard game, but we played very well at their place, so hopefully we can replicate that tomorrow and get ourselves back to winning ways.”
Shaun Vipond and Wayne Phillips have been ruled out of the game for Roofing, while Campbell could return in the 3pm kick-off at Boldon CA Sports Ground.
