South Shields boss Lee Picton has called for bravery from his players ahead of tomorrow’s titanic derby clash at North Shields.
The Mariners are hoping for a 31st win in a row, which would see them replace North Shields at the top of Northern League Division One on goal difference.
We’re going to need to be brave and courageous, but also disciplined, focussed and organisedLee Picton
Picton and fellow joint manager Graham Fenton are confident the team can handle the red-hot atmosphere at the Daren Persson Stadium.
Picton said: “We’re going to need to be brave and courageous, but also disciplined, focused and organised.
“They are qualities we’ve shown at various stages this season, and need to again tomorrow.
“They’re going to be really important qualities, because it’s going to be a big occasion and a great atmosphere.”
Morpeth Town are also involved in a three-team title race, with the trio to play each other in the coming days.
Picton added: “We’ve always said that the head-to-head games will play a big part in deciding who wins the league.
“It’s going to be a big game, as will North Shields against Morpeth, and South Shields against Morpeth.
“They are three massive games, and will play a big part in who wins the league.”
