Roofing can drive on against Benfield

Jarrow Roofing travel to Newcastle Benfield this evening as they look to extend a run of three consecutive wins.

Over the last few weeks, the Roofers have been in fine form and have now scored 15 goals in their last three outings.

Last time out, Richie McLoughlin’s men recorded an emphatic 6-4 victory over Norton & Stockton Ancients, in what must be one of the most exciting games ever witnessed at the Boldon CA Sports Ground.

Roofing went into the break 2-1 up against the Ancients on Tuesday night, but found themselves 3-2 down after just 48 minutes. But a spectacular turnaround, including penalties, questionable refereeing decisions and a goal celebration containing a huge squad pile-on saw them eventually run out as 6-4 victors.

Roofing now seem to be a side brimming with confidence, and boss McLoughlin believes that they can climb higher up the table before the end of the campaign.

“We’re going quite well now,” he said. We can still get higher up though, there are good points left to be won so we’re hopeful we can move up a bit more.”

Next up for Roofing is a Benfield side whose form has halted over their last three outings after they recorded a resounding 6-1 over Sunderland RCA at the end of March.

“We’re taking each game as it comes now,” added McLoughlin. “Every game against them is difficult, but having said that we’re a lot better now so hopefully we can make it tough for them.”
