Roofing Steeled in bid to do the double

Jarrow Roofing return to Northern League Division One action tomorrow as they travel to Consett’s Belle Vue stadium to face a team who they beat 3-2 at home just two weeks ago.

Consett, who find themselves in 10th position in the table after a mixed start to the campaign, made the journey to the Boldon CA Sports Ground last month only to return empty-handed after being on the receiving end of an outstanding Roofing performance which saw two goals inside the first 10 minutes.

Roofing will be hoping to get another fine start after squandering numerous early opportunities in Tuesday’s disappointing 2-1 home defeat to Bedlington Terriers – a game the Roofers should have won considering their dominance.

As it was, they only had James Fairley’s goal to show for their efforts and eventually paid the price as two late Bedlington goals earned them victory.

Roofing striker Paul Chow will be hoping to continue his fine performances, having scored 11 goals in seven games, but knows he will face a challenge on the 3G pitch at Consett.

A win could see Roofing climb to 14th in the Division One table and hopefully kick-start their season.

Roofing boss Richie McLouglin chances are enhanced with the return of Josh Allen and Corey Barnes as they look to do the double over the Steelmen.

However, their opponents have home advantage and will be on their guard this time.

“We defended badly in the last game with them a couple of weeks ago and will need to do better,” observed Consett manager Colin Myers who brings in fit-again Ryan McKinnon.

Dan Madden though is still sidelined.
